Helping Veterans Get Back to Work

CareerSource Suncoast is proud to provide priority of service to our veterans and eligible spouses, who have devoted themselves to serving our country. Priority of service means preference for available services and training funds for veterans and eligible spouses. Our team will work with you to find employment, acquire skills and education, plan a career, attend workshops and take advantage of many other resources.

Veteran Services Include:

  • Access to computers, fax machines, and copiers
  • Career planning and counseling
  • Labor market information
  • Case management assessment and testing services
  • Interviewing skills training
  • Job search and placement assistance
  • Recommendations for increased skills training and education
  • Referrals to educational and vocational training
  • Interview and resume training

*All veterans and eligible spouses receive priority of service at each career center*

CareerSource Suncoast also offers specialized services by our Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) and Local Veteran Employment Representatives (LVER). They help in working to promote and maximize the employment of Florida’s veteran population, especially providing intensive case management services to veterans with significant barriers to employment.

On “My Next Move for Veterans,” you will find a simple and quick search engine where you may enter your prior military experience (branch of service and military occupation code or title). You can explore information on civilian careers and related training, including education and projected wages for careers in the area. In addition, “My Next Move for Veterans” contains a link to an online assessment, the “O*NET Interest Profiler,” located from a link in the bottom right-hand corner of “My Next Move for Veterans”

Services to Military Spouses

We provide workforce-related services to the spouses of military servicemen and women. CareerSource Suncoast offers the necessary tools needed for a smooth transition into a new community, assistance with the job searching process and guidance to prepare veterans’ spouses for employment.

Veteran Employment Center
This website is the single federal source for veterans looking for new career opportunities in the private and public sectors. The Veteran Employment Center also aids:
  • Service members who are transitioning to the civilian workforce
  • Spouses and dependents of military personnel who are looking for employment opportunities
  • GI Bill beneficiaries who are transitioning from training to the job market
  • Employers who are looking to connect with high-quality applicants.

Access Veteran Employment Center

*Veteran: A person who served at least one day in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable, as specified in 38 U.S.C 101(2). Active service includes full-time Federal service in the National Guard or a Reserve component. It does not include full-time duty performed strictly for training purposes, nor does it include full-time active duty performed by National Guard personnel who are mobilized by state rather than federal authorities. *Eligible Spouse: The spouse of: i. A veteran who died of a service‐connected disability. ii. A member of the Armed Forces serving on active duty who, at the time of application for the priority, is listed in one or more of the following categories and has been so listed for a total of more than 90 days: a. Missing in action; b. Captured in the line of duty by a hostile force; c. Forcibly detained or interned in the line of duty by a foreign government or power; d. A spouse of any veteran who has a total disability resulting from a service‐connected disability, as evaluated by the Department of Veterans Affairs; or e. A spouse of any veteran who died while a total, service connected disability was in existence.
