Public Works Maintenance Technician

We are a small beach community municipality on Florida’s west coast. The Maintenance Technician is a full-time position that performs general maintenance in all areas of the City including, but not limited to, roadway, traffic control devices, painting, hauling, landscape maintenance, caretaking of City buildings, with a focus on operating equipment and vehicles, and for construction and maintenance of City property.  Experience in Public Works, street sweeping and mowing are preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Must possess a variety of skills to complete a variety of tasks required by a general maintenance position
  • Must have detailed knowledge of material and equipment with which to complete maintenance
  • Ability to be able to operate heavy equipment, such as an excavator, skit steer, grade tractor and loader preferred
  • Must be able to work on-call periodically
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • CDL license preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background and driving check

 

Salary: $22.85/hr

Manufacturing Plant Flow - Six Sigma

We are seeking a structured and detail-driven Manufacturing Process Specialist to improve workflow and efficiency in our production plant using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. This role requires Excel and QuickBooks for tracking production efficiency, cost analysis, and reporting.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Implement efficiency strategies using Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Track production metrics and costs using Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Create reports and workflow documentation in Word.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Highly organized and analytical with a problem-solving mindset.

Engineering Specialist

The Engineering Specialist is part of a collaborative work team and provides general administrative support and program coordination for the Public Works staff.  Work is characterized by technical and specialized administrative support of various activities within the department. 

Work is performed with general supervision.  The Engineering Specialist performs assignments in accordance with policies, procedures and/or accepted practices.  Grant writing is preferred.

 

  • Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assists in the coordination of City-wide Storm water, traffic, or other engineering projects; works with consulting engineers on development of these projects.
  • Reviews and makes comments/suggestions regarding implementation of new regulations by the City and State pertaining to drainage and transportation.
  • Researches, prepares, and/or reviews construction plans, applications and permits for transportation, utility or electrical construction projects.
  • Performs field reviews on construction for compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Reviews and researches development projects for compliance with the Comprehensive Plan, Code, and design standards.

 

Skills Required:

  • Must have strong computer capabilities
  • Current office practices, procedures and equipment including computers and related software such as word processing, spreadsheet programs, web-based management systems and Adobe Suite
  • GIS mapping experience desired
  • Proper use of telephone etiquette and techniques and ability to assist in answering diverse inquiries
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding and following oral and written directions
  • Communicating effectively orally and in writing
  • Proven record of high level administrative experience

Pool Technician

We are now looking for an experienced, dependable, hardworking pool technician with a presentable appearance, good customer presence and communications skills, who is willing to learn the details of the business. It is also our responsibility to identify failing equipment and/or any unsafe conditions to our clients and be part of the solution. You will also be the face of the company to the client with interactions as required.

Plans Examiner/Building Inspector

This combined role examines building plans for all construction activity for new and existing structures in the City and meets with contractors and/or property owners regarding code requirements.  The Building Inspector/Plans Examiner also performs building inspections and reviews construction plans within applicable licensure.  State licenses and certifications required.

MUST BE ABLE TO PROVE A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.  COMPANY VEHICLE PROVIDED FOR INSPECTIONS.

Scope of Work/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews complex plans to ascertain compliance with land use codes, building codes and state and federal regulations regarding flood plain construction
  • Researches codes for unusual and/or unique installations to ensure compliance
  • Drafts correspondence explaining why permit application is deemed non-compliant
  • Files new and completed plans
  • Works with homeowners, contractors and architects in obtaining compliance
  • Maintains up-to-date education on trends and changes to methods and materials, regulations and codes relative to construction and inspections
  • Inspects new and existing construction projects and applicable trade work to ensure compliance with approved plans and building, construction, fire codes and zoning
  • Reviews assigned construction plans and engineering calculations for structural, mechanical and architectural components to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and recommends methods of compliance to meet the intent of each related item
  • Reviews all relevant building, fire, plumbing, mechanical, floodplain, and energy codes within the applicable licensure
  • Identifies codes violations, issues correction notices and stop work orders
  • Keep daily logs and prepare reports on inspection activities
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Skills:

  • Licensed Florida Building Inspector OR
  • Licensed ICC Building Inspector OR
  • Florida State Building Contractor
  • Additional Certifications preferred

Working Field Superintendent – Pool Installation

Job Summary:
The Working Field Superintendent is a hands-on leader responsible for both supervising and actively participating in the construction process. This role requires a skilled professional who can oversee projects, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure quality while also performing fieldwork as needed. The ideal candidate has experience in pool construction or similar field, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

 

Fieldwork & Construction Duties:

  • Perform hands-on work, including excavation, plumbing, rebar installation, shotcrete, tile, and equipment setup.
  • Operate construction tools and machinery as needed.
  • Troubleshoot on-site issues and implement practical solutions.
  • Ensure proper material handling and quality craftsmanship.

 

Supervisory & Management Duties:

  • Oversee all phases of pool construction, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house crews.
    Conduct site visits to monitor progress, enforce safety regulations, and uphold quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, making adjustments as necessary.
    Maintain daily project logs, documenting job progress, materials used, and any challenges.
  • Communicate with clients, project managers, and team members to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, permits, and industry regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  •  3+ years of hands-on experience in swimming pool construction or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and operate construction equipment.
  • Experience in managing job sites and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of pool construction techniques, plumbing, electrical, and masonry work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
