IT Support Specialist OJT

Job Description:

Essential Functions: (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Provides strong Help Desk and Desktop Support to Agency staff
  • Supports and troubleshoots problems in Windows OS, Active Directory, Google Apps for Work, Microsoft Office, and other software packages.
  • Diagnoses and repairs basic networking issues (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP)
  • Research solutions to IT-related problems.
  • Deploys computers and similar systems (cell and tablets) to staff to ensure organizational standards through approved computer security/software compliance.
  • Records, tracks, and documents IT Service Desk requests
  • Completes IT projects that are appropriate to their skill level.
  • Assists with system administration of Microsoft Cloud environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or hold professional certifications such as A+, Network+, or MCP.
  • May consider experience as a substitute for certifications.
  • Experience in answering service desk calls and working with end-users to resolve issues is a plus.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication, as well as organizational skills.
  • Must have strong skills working in a Microsoft Windows environment and be able to troubleshoot problems in Windows, Active Directory, and Google Apps
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Must be highly organized, accountable, and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to establish a rapport with staff
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative, creative, problem-solving environment.

License/Certificates/Screenings

  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Must have reliable transportation for work-related travel.
  • Must be insurable under Step Up Suncoast’s organizational policies.
  • Pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Must pass a Level II criminal background check.
  • Must agree to ongoing random drug/alcohol screening.

Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Employee will frequently be asked to perform fine motor skills and work with very small parts
  • Employee will frequently be asked to bend, crawl, and occasionally climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds

Work environment:

  • The work site will encompass a variety of settings, including a standard office environment, classrooms, wiring closets, and other areas necessary to fulfill work responsibilities.

Expected hours of work:

  • Hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Employees may be called upon outside these hours to complete network downtimes or other functions of the position or agency as needed.

Travel:

  • Traveling to Agency offices and classrooms in Manatee, Hardee, and other counties where the Agency does business is commonplace.

 

Salary: $18.50 – $25/hr
